Coaching Courses

The Sikkim Football Association (SFA) is committed to elevating the standards of football coaching across the state. Our Coaching Education program is designed to equip coaches with the knowledge, skills, and certifications needed to nurture and develop talent at all levels of the game. Through a structured and comprehensive curriculum, we aim to create a robust pipeline of qualified coaches who can contribute to the growth and success of football in Sikkim.

AIFF D-License Course

This is a preparatory 6-day non-residential course. Introductory courses are educational means, used as a ‘recruitment’ tool to select promising future Coaches for the AIFF ‘C’ certificate. Register here to apply for the D- license course.

AFC C-License Course

Mode of Delivery:

  • 5-day course

  • 2 Practical and 2 Theory Sessions on each day

  • Exam on the 5th day

Assessment:

  • 2 practical assessments

  • Written exam

  • Session planning

  • Prepare Logbook

Licensing Criteria:

  • All school tournaments and Leagues

Cost

  • Rs. 14,500/-

Pre-Requisite:

  • Minimum 18 years of age

  • First Aid course from 2020/21

  • Passion for Football

Learning Outcomes:

  • Being aware of the coach’s behavior and youth player psychology

  • Coaching of individual technique in a game-related format

  • Analyzing players performance and development Individually and in groups

  • Designing progressive match related training sessions

  • Introduction to age-specific coaching and related development themes

The course is designed to educate coaches, to plan, organize and deliver training sessions. It aims to train Coaches and develop their basic techniques and skills in football. Coaches are guided to develop and work on their moral behavior and lifestyle. Adequate training is also provided for the protection of children, on and off the field. The course lasts 12 days divided into 2 modules and requires both the Practical and Theoretical sessions. Students are assessed on their Practical coaching abilities, knowledge of the Laws of the Game, and learning and understanding of the Theoretical contents of football during the course.

Candidates wishing to apply must do so through the AIFF Coaching Portal.

Mode of Delivery:

  • Module 1: 7 day residential/non-residential component.

  • Followed by a 2 months break

  • Module 2: 5 day residential/non-residential component.

  • Full time-Practical and Theory sessions run during the day and evening including weekends

  • Candidates must attend both course modules.

  • The course involves tasks during the course

  • During 2 months break; off course learning, assignments and log work

Assessment:

  • 3 practical assessments

  • 2 theory exams

  • 1 Laws of the Game (LOTG)

Licensing Criteria:

  • All school tournaments and Hero sub-junior and Hero junior league

  • Hero Sub Junior National Football Championship

Cost:

  • AIFF license fees Rs. 12,500 + organisational cost to be paid to the SFA.

Pre-Requisite:

  • Minimum 18 years of age

  • AIFF ‘D’ License

  • It is recommended that candidates practice coaching for a minimum of 3 months before applying for ‘C’ in order to gain suitable experience/self-evaluation.

  • Can be fast-tracked by recommendation of Instructor/Head of Coach Education.

  • Design of training programs to player specific to the development needs of individuals

  • Identification of talent and development towards Elite football

  • Session design and management by integrating tactical and related technical themes

  • Understanding physical conditioning and developing it in a game-related format

  • Holistic themes dealing with ethics, behavior, lifestyle and child protection.
